Lucera and her six herdmates were surrendered to Bluebonnet when their owner was investigated for neglect. She appears to have been used as a broodmare. Thin when rescued, Lucera turned into a pretty mare once she gained weight. She appears sound, with correct conformation and no blemishes. Lucera’s large, kind eyes are one of her best features, and she has those dark, tough hooves that cowboys prize.

Nothing is known of Lucera’s history.

Health / Lameness

Evaluation and Training
Lucera is reluctant to be caught, but she leads well and will load in a trailer once caught. She can be apprehensive around people, which we hope to overcome with time. She was very difficult during her first farrier trim, especially with her forefeet. Her foster home will continue working with her to gain her confidence and assess her knowledge.
