Eli came to Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society in 2016 from a neglect case. He rehabilitated well and attended the Bluebonnet Horse Expo. He went home with a new foster home who adopted him a few weeks later. She returned him in 2018 as he was really too much horse for her. Eli was not gelded until he was twelve. He’s been fine in one mixed herd, and in another mixed herd he tried to keep mares separated from the other geldings. He may do better in an all gelding herd.
Eli is very friendly and likes people. He is easy to catch, saddle, and bridle. He stands tied quietly to be bathed and groomed. He was with a trainer who rode him at the walk, jog, and lope. She said he also slips into a four beat gait occasionally, but he would need someone familiar with gaited horses to help him gait consistently.
Eli will be competing under saddle in the Non-Pro Under Saddle division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with non-pro youth Alayna Fuller. Eli’s Training Challenge partner has been riding him in both arenas and over trail obstacles. He’s doing well – and he should be a solid riding partner by the time of the Challenge, but will need an experienced rider.
Adoption Fee – $1,000
